Generator Operation Procedure#

General#

  • DO NOT STORE GASOLINE INSIDE THE HOUSE

  • Always check the oil and fuel levels before starting.

  • Approximately 15” of water downstairs will flood some power outlets - in this event circuit breakers might have to be manually turned off.

Start Up#

  1. Turn OFF the Main Circuit Breaker

Main breaker panel.#

  1. Position the Generator just outside back door.

  2. Ensure that the generator circuit breaker (circled in blue in image below) is OFF and the Voltage selector is in the -> 120V/240V position.

  3. There is a pigtail made-up to connect the generator to the clothes drier outlet.

Danger

Always Ensure that the Main Circuit Breaker is OFF And that the Generator Circuit Breaker is OFF before connecting or disconnecting the pigtail to the house or generator.

Connect the pigtail to the generator (the plug twists clockwise to lock - circled in yellow below) and to the clothes drier outlet. see images below.

  1. Ensure the fuel valve is turned to the on position.

  2. Crank engine to start. Use of the Choke may be required.

  3. Allow the engine to warm up for 3-5 minutes.

8. Turn on GENERATOR CIRCUIT BREAKER. Observe for overload condition. If generator overloads (bogs down) turn off generator breaker and remove some loads. Repeat until generator is not overloaded.

Shut down#

  1. Turn OFF generator circuit breaker.

  2. Allow generator to remain running for several minutes too cool down.

  3. Disconnect pigtail from Clothes Drier Outlet.

  4. Disconnect pigtail from generator.

  5. House main circuit breaker may now we turned on.
